Madrid, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Real Madrid winger Jese is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he suffered a torn ACL on Tuesday in his team's 3-1 Champions League win over Schalke.
The 21-year-old sustained the injury in a challenge from Schalke's Sead Kolasinac just five minutes into the match, forcing him to come off in favor of Gareth Bale.
The Welshman went on to have a hand in all three of Madrid's goals, with Cristiano Ronaldo netting two and Alvaro Morata one.
But the promising Jese will play no further part in the current campaign and could be facing a long spell out of action.
Madrid confirmed the extent of the injury in a statement after Jese underwent tests, although no timetable has been given for his return.
In 18 league games for Madrid this season, Jese has totaled five goals with four assists.
