The Indianapolis Colts re-signed kicker Adam Vinatieri on Tuesday, hours before he was to become an unrestricted free agent.

Terms of the deal were not immediately available.

Vinatieri is widely considered the best clutch kicker in league history. He made two Super Bowl-winning kicks with New England and owns four Super Bowl rings. Last season, as the oldest player in the league, he finished with the second-highest point total of his career (139), made 35 of 40 field goals and became the seventh player in league history to top 2,000 career points.

He turns 42 in December.

It's the latest in a flurry of Colts moves. In the last week, they have signed linebacker D'Qwell Jackson and re-signed punter Pat McAfee, defensive end Fili Moala and linebacker Justin Hickman.
