San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Winston Shepard had 12 points, six rebounds and five assists as No. 13 San Diego State took a 90-64 win over San Jose State on Tuesday.

J.J. O'Brien scored 12 points, as did Dwayne Polee II for the Aztecs (24-3, 13-2 (MWC), who bounced back from Saturday's loss to New Mexico to remain tied atop the conference standings. Matt Shrigley scored 11 points in the win.

"I was really proud of how we came out," said San Diego State coach Steve Fisher. "Offensively, (we) shared the ball better than any game all season."

Rashad Muhammad and Jaleel Williams scored 14 points each for the Spartans (7-20, 1-14), whose win against Nevada last Tuesday had snapped a 13-game losing streak.

San Jose State briefly held the lead in the game as a Devante Wilson 3-pointer gave them a 9-6 lead just over four minutes in, but Xavier Thames hit a jumper and Polee followed with a 3 to give San Diego State a lead it never lost.

A 9-2 run from the Aztecs a bit later gave the team some room and they eventually took a 44-30 lead into the break.

The Spartans tried to keep it close in the second half and trailed by 14 just under four minutes in after Chris Cunningham hit a pair of free throws to make it a 50-36 game.

San Diego State, though, scored 14 straight points with Polee's alley-oop slam giving the team a 67-38 lead with 11 minutes to play.

The Aztecs' lead reached as high as 33 down the stretch in the easy victory.
