Wizards welcome road-weary Magic to D.C.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Wizards have won three straight and a victory at home Tuesday night against the Orlando Magic will get them back over the .500 hump.

The Wiz went over .500 for the first time in almost four years earlier this season and can get back there with a win over the Southwest Division rivals.

All of the news isn't great for the Wizards, despite this great stretch of basketball.

Nene, one of the veteran leaders on this team of youngsters trying to make the postseason, will miss approximately six weeks with an MCL sprain in his left knee.

Nene suffered the injury in Washington's victory over Cleveland on Sunday night. An MRI on Monday in Washington revealed the severity of the injury.

John Wall scored 21 points and handed out nine assists to help the Wizards take a 96-83 win over the Cavaliers.

Bradley Beal added 17 points, while Trevor Ariza and Marcin Gortat both finished with double-doubles for the Wizards. Ariza scored 15 points and pulled down 10 boards, while Gortat added 13 points and 13 rebounds in the win. Gortat has had a double-double in four straight.

Al Harrington played for the second time since mid-November and finished with five points in seven minutes.

"Al [Harrington] gave us a big lift tonight by making a couple of shots. He was panting like a dog out there, but his minutes were big. He came out with a lot of energy and provided veteran leadership," said Wizards coach Randy Wittman.

The Magic are in game two of a four-game road trip and dropped the opener, 105-90 to the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.

It was the first game since the Magic bought out the contract of Glen Davis. Arron Afflalo also missed the game with an ankle injury and he's expected to miss Tuesday's contest as well.

Tobias Harris and E'Twaun Moore netted 28 and 16 points, respectively, for the Magic, who have dropped 15 in a row on the road. Nikola Vucevic and Victor Oladipo scored 11 apiece and Kyle O'Quinn managed 10 off the bench.

The third quarter proved to be the difference on Sunday. The Raptors outscored the Magic by 12 to turn a three-point Orlando halftime deficit into a 15-point one at the start of the fourth.

"They obviously got a little hot and I don't know whether it was our defense being lackadaisical or what," point guard Jameer Nelson said. "We were playing them pretty tight and tough the first half and it just looked like those shots in the third quarter were a little too open."

The Magic will visit the Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat on this sojourn.

The Wizards won this season's only meeting with Orlando, which was also in Washington. In addition to the Magic's 15-game road losing streak, Orlando has lost four in a row in D.C.
