Surprise, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Texas Rangers announced on Monday that manager Ron Washington has agreed to terms on a one-year contract extension that would run through the 2015 season.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Washington, 61, has led the Rangers to four straight seasons with 90 or more wins, joining Tampa Bay's Joe Maddon is the only managers to accomplish the feat from 2010-13. In that span, the Rangers posted a .570 (370-279) winning percentage which was third-best in the majors.
In his eight years in Texas, Washington has become the all-time winningest manager in Rangers history with 611 regular-season victories. Texas has finished first or second in the AL West for a club-record six consecutive seasons from 2008-13.
Under Washington's leadership, the Rangers clinched a postseason berth in three straight seasons (2010-12) and reached the World Series in both 2010 and 2011.
Washington joined Bobby Cox, Joe Torre and Charlie Manuel as the only managers in the Division Series era to advance to back-to-back World Series.

"Under Wash's guidance and tutelage, the Rangers have enjoyed their greatest successes in franchise history. I look forward to working with him to build on that success in 2014 and beyond."
Texas hired Washington as the 17th manager in team history on Nov. 6, 2006. He was extended through the 2014 season on Jan. 30, 2012.
Washington is tied with Padres' skipper Bud Black and San Francisco's Bruce Bochy for the fourth-longest current tenure in major league baseball. Mike Scioscia (Angels, 2000), Ron Gardenhire (Twins, 2002) and Maddon (Rays, 2006) are the only other managers to have longer tenures.
