Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has been summoned to appear in a New Jersey courtroom next week following a recent arrest for allegedly assaulting his fiancee in an Atlantic City casino.

Baltimore television station WJZ obtained a copy of the summons, which charged the three-time Pro Bowl selection with simple assault and domestic violence following an altercation with Janay Palmer in an elevator of the Revel Casino early Saturday morning.

The document specifically stated that Rice struck Palmer with his hand and rendered her unconscious.

Additionally, a surveillance video released by TMZ.com showed Rice dragging a motionless Palmer out of the elevator, though there was no footage of a fight taking place.

Palmer was also charged with simple assault and domestic violence for allegedly hitting Rice as well. The two are scheduled to appear in Atlantic City Municipal Court on Feb. 25.

Rice, 27, is coming off his worst season, rushing for 660 yards on a career- low 3.1 yards per carry. He signed a five-year, $35 million deal to stay in Baltimore prior to the 2012 season.
