The Netherlands is dominating speedskating in the Winter Olympics in a big way. Second in the overall medal standings — zero medals in any other sport.
The Dutch swept their third podium of the Sochi Games Sunday, the women's 1,500 meters speedskating, to be the biggest medal mover of the day. It was the only country to win three medals on the ninth day of competition.
The Netherlands has won 17 medals overall, including five silvers and seven bronzes. One bronze came in short track in the 1,000-meter event.
Canada, France and the United States won two medals each on a day that was crunched because weather postponed a biathlon event.
Six medal events were scheduled for Monday, though men's snowboardcross and 15-kilometer mass start biathlon events were delayed because of weather. Also planned were women's 12.5-kilometer mass start biathlon, ice dance, men's two-man bobsled, men's aerials free skiing and men's team ski jumping.
