Atletico's Tiago out with knee, wrist injuries

Madrid, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago is set to miss up to three months after sustaining knee and wrist injuries in his team's 2-0 defeat to Almeria on Saturday.

Tiago was injured in the 67th minute after a tough tackle from Almeria's Helder Barbosa that saw Barbosa come in with his feet up after he was tripped inadvertently away from the ball.

The tackle resulted in a sprained knee for the 32-year-old Tiago as well as a broken wrist after he fell awkwardly.

The former Portugal international has appeared in 17 games this season for Atletico, scoring two goals, and he joins key players David Villa and Thibaut Courtois on the injury list for manager Diego Simeone.
