Florence, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Mauro Icardi scored his first goal of the calendar year on Saturday as Inter Milan took three points from a 2-1 defeat of Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Rodrigo Palacio, Inter's leading scorer this term, handed the visitors the lead in the 34th minute with his 11th goal of the campaign, but Fiorentina managed to get back on level terms early in the second half when Juan Guillermo Cuadrado's shot from the top of the box snuck under the outstretched hand of Samir Handanovic.

Inter was fortunate to restore its lead in the 65th minute when Icardi, who appeared to occupy an offisde position, got on the end of Yuto Nagatomo's cross to convert from close range.

It proved to be all Inter would need as the visitors hung on to get the win and move to 39 points on the season, five points back of fourth-place Fiorentina.
