Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Dodgers signed pitcher Paul Maholm to a one-year contract on Saturday.

Maholm made 26 starts for the Atlanta Braves last season, going 10-11 with a 4.41 earned run average and 105 strikeouts over 153 innings.

Selected eighth overall by Pittsburgh in the 2003 amateur draft, Maholm owns a career record of 76-95 with a 4.28 ERA in 243 games -- all but one as a starter -- over nine seasons with the Pirates, Cubs and Braves.

To make room for Maholm on the 40-man roster, Los Angeles placed left-handed pitcher Scott Elbert on the 60-day disabled list.
