Newcastle, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote is likely to miss his team's next three matches because of an injured hamstring.
Tiote sustained the problem in training earlier this week and the club has now confirmed the extent of the injury, which is expected to keep the Ivory Coast native out of action until the end of the month.
The 27-year-old will now miss league games with Chelsea and Tottenham while the club's match with Aston Villa on Feb. 23 could also come too soon.
Tiote has appeared in 24 games for the Magpies this term and his absence is an even bigger blow after the departure of midfielder Yohan Cabaye to PSG last month.
Newcastle enters the weekend in eighth place in the Premiership, but the team has claimed only one win from its last seven matches in all competitions.
