Feyenoord back to winning ways with Roda defeat

Kerkrade, Netherlands (SportsNetwork.com) - Feyenoord got back in the win column thanks to a 2-1 defeat of Roda in Eredivisie play on Tuesday.

After taking just one point from its last two league matches, Feyenoord dropped to fourth place in the Dutch top flight.

But the club managed to get off to a good start at the Parkstad Limburg Stadion on Tuesday, grabbing a two-goal lead by the break.

Lex Immers put Feyenoord in front just 13 minutes into the match while a goal from Samuel Armenteros on the stroke of halftime doubled the club's lead, and while a second-half penalty from Anouar Kali spoiled Erwin Mulder's bid for a clean sheet, the visitors came away with all three points to bring their total to 40 through 22 games.

Roda has lost two league matches on the bounce to remain on 22 points for the season.

Elsewhere in Tuesday's Eredivisie action, Heracles picked up its second win in three matches by cruising to a 3-0 win at Den Haag. Brian Linssen handed the visitors the lead in the second minute of play and brace from Mark Uth put the victory beyond any doubt.

Also on Tuesday, AZ Alkmaar ended Vitesse's 12-match unbeaten run in Eredivisie play by getting a 2-0 win at the GelreDome. An own goal from Patrick Van Aanholt put Alkmaar in front while Aron Johannsson's strike late in the first half granted the club a second consecutive victory.
