Villa sidelined by hamstring injury

Madrid, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Atletico Madrid forward David Villa is expected to miss the next 10-14 days after suffering a minor hamstring injury in Atletico's 4-0 win over Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Villa scored the opening goal in Sunday's match but had to leave the game shortly after his tally with a muscle injury.

Tests on Monday confirmed that Villa had sustained only a minor injury, although he could face a race to be fit in time for Atletico's Champions League round of 16 first-leg clash with AC Milan on Feb. 19.

The 31-year-old has scored in his last three league appearances and has totaled 11 goals and three assists in 22 La Liga games this term, helping Atletico sit three points clear at the top of the league.
