Vina del Mar, Chile (SportsNetwork.com) - Argentine Leonardo Mayer and Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez were first-round winners Monday at the Royal Guard Open Chile tennis tournament.
The seventh-seeded Garcia-Lopez rallied from a set and a break down to defeat German Julian Reister 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Mayer beat Austrian Andreas Haider-Maurer 7-5, 7-5 to set up a second-round meeting with second-seeded Spaniard Tommy Robredo.
The top seeds in Vina del Mar are Fabio Fognini and Robredo. Defending champion Horacio Zeballos will play Gonzalo Lama in the first round.
