East Rutherford, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - The postgame news conference of Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith was interrupted Sunday by a man who called for an investigation into the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The man, wearing a red and black plaid coat over a white shirt, grabbed the microphone and said: "Investigate 9/11 -- 9/11 was perpetrated by people within our own government."

Smith, who had a 69-yard interception return for a touchdown in Seattle's 43-8 win over Denver, sat still during the bizarre scene and turned his head to the right, presumably looking for security.

After the interloper left the podium, the Seahawks linebacker was quick with a joke, saying the man should have his press credentials taken away.

People who dispute that the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, were made by terrorists are commonly called "9/11 truthers."

According to NJ.com, police identified the man who interrupted Smith as Matthew Mills, 30, from Brooklyn, N.Y. Mills was arrested for trespassing, the site reported.
