Pattaya City, Thailand (SportsNetwork.com) - Fourth-seeded Russian Ekaterina Makarova and unseeded Czech Karolina Pliskova will battle in Sunday's final at the WTA's Pattaya Open.
Saturday's semifinals saw Makarova hold off Czech Andrea Hlavackova 6-3, 0-6, 6-4 and Pliskova outlast German Julia Goerges 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 on the hardcourts at Dusit Thani Hotel.
Makarova and Pliskova will meet for the first time on Sunday.
The 25-year-old Makarova is 1-2 in her career WTA finals, with her title coming in Eastbourne, England, in 2010, which is the last time she appeared in a final.
The 21-year-old Pliskova captured her lone career title in her only final last year in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Sunday's winner will collect $43,000.
