Jason Houghtaling has returned to Wagner College to become the Seahawks' associate head coach and offensive coordinator, head coach Walt Hameline announced Thursday.

This marks Houghtaling's third coaching stint at Wagner. He was a Seahawks assistant coach from 2006-2009 before becoming head coach at Hudson Valley Community College in 2010. He then returned to Wagner as offensive coordinator in 2011 and spent two seasons before leaving to become Cornell's offensive coordinator last year.

Houghtaling helped Wagner capture the 2012 Northeast Conference title and win its first-ever FCS playoff game. His offense was led by record-setting quarterback Nick Dosher and running back Dominique Williams, and ranked No. 1 nationally with the fewest turnovers (six).

"I am thrilled that Jason has agreed to accept this important position," Hameline said. "His work ethic, passion, football knowledge, recruiting contacts and familiarity with Wagner College are all major assets that will pay huge dividends for our program in 2014 and beyond.

"With Hoss (Houghtaling's nickname), we have an individual who has the respect of everyone that he comes into contact with. He is someone who is highly regarded by high school coaches both within our region and on a national scale."
