Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Winnipeg Jets will be without the services of forward Evander Kane for the next month due to an infection in his right hand.
Head coach Paul Maurice told reporters during Tuesday's morning skate that the team will hold Kane out of its remaining six games prior to the NHL's break for the Winter Olympics.
Kane initially hurt his hand while fighting with Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Eric Brewer on Jan. 7, which caused him to miss four games before returning to action last week.
The No. 4 overall pick of the 2009 NHL Draft ranks third among Winnipeg players with 15 goals this season despite sitting out 12 games. Kane previously missed time with a lower-body injury in early December.
