Edinburgh, Scotland (SportsNetwork.com) - Kris Commons scored a pair of goals on Sunday to help Celtic extend its unbeaten streak in the Scottish Premier League to 22 games with a 4-0 triumph over Hibernian at Easter Road Stadium.

Commons was on target after nine minutes for the Hoops, while Virgil van Dijk doubled the advantage in the 77th.

Teemu Pukki made it 3-0 seven minutes from time and Commons capped the victory with a 90th-minute penalty kick to take Celtic 15 points clear of second-place Aberdeen, which has also played two more games than the league leaders.

Commons made the most of a defensive miscue in the ninth minute to put his side in front as defenders Jordan Forster and Michael Nelson both went for a header, allowing the ball to fall to Commons for a simple finish past goalkeeper Ben Williams.

Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster was called into action on a handful of occasions as Hibernian attempted to fight back, but the netminder held strong and the Hoops doubled their lead with a wonderful free kick from Van Dijk in the 77th.

The goal deflated the home side and Celtic was able to put two more shots past Williams as Pukki scored on a well-struck shot from 16 yards before Commons netted a penalty kick shortly before the final whistle after Pukki was fouled by defender Alan Maybury.
