Aspen, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Canadian snowboarder Mark McMorris, the gold medal favorite heading into the Olympics in Sochi next month, broke a rib crashing onto a railing at the Winter X Games Saturday afternoon.

"Thank you all for the kind words!!!! I ended up breaking a rib today but will be continuing my journey to Sochi for teamcanada," McMorris said via Twitter.

The crash happened when McMorris went off the ramp and the board clipped the front edge of the railing and turned over. That sent the 20-year-old out of his move, although he managed to land hard on his board in the snow and finished with a silver medal behind fellow Canadian Max Parrot.
