As former Dallas Cowboys tackle Josh Brent faces sentencing for intoxication manslaughter, the mother of the victim stands behind Brent.
Stacey Jackson has said she's forgiven Brent for the December 2012 wreck that killed her son, Cowboys practice squad player Jerry Brown. Brent and Brown were close friends and college teammates at the University of Illinois.
Jackson could be one of several witnesses Brent's attorneys could call to argue for leniency when sentencing begins Thursday.
Brent was convicted Wednesday of intoxication manslaughter for Brown's death in a fiery crash on a suburban Dallas highway after a night of partying with fellow Cowboys players.
He faces up to 20 years in prison, though he's also eligible for probation.
