Toivonen completes Rennes switch

Rennes, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Rennes announced the signing of PSV Eindhoven forward Ola Toivonen on Wednesday with the Sweden international signing a three-and-a-half-year contract.

Toivonen has been at PSV since moving to the Philips Stadion in 2009 from Swedish side Malmo, and he has been a part of PSV sides that have reached both the Champions League and Europa League.

But the 27-year-old has fallen out of favor with PSV manager Philip Cocu this season, starting only six games with seven other appearances as a substitute.

Rennes will be hoping that the addition of Toivonen will help to boost a struggling attack that has yielded just 22 goals in 21 games as the club sits in 15th place in Ligue 1, six points clear of the relegation places.
