Jacksonville, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Expected to have one of the stronger squads in the FCS in 2014, Jacksonville State could be searching for a new head coach in the near future.
FootballScoop.com reported Sunday night that Bill Clark will leave the Gamecocks program after one season to become the head coach at UAB.
Clark would replace Garrick McGee, who resigned after two seasons and a 5-19 record at UAB to accept the offensive coordinator job under Bobby Petrino at Louisville.
Clark, hired by Jacksonville State in December 2012, took over a squad that was 6-5 and went 11-4 this past season, guiding the Gamecocks to the FCS national quarterfinals in their first playoff appearance since 2010. The Gamecocks will return a veteran squad next season, including starting quarterback Eli Jenkins and All-American running back DaMarcus James.
Jacksonville State is expected to be the favorite in the Ohio Valley Conference race.
