Birmingham, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Aston Villa has completed the loan signing of Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand for the remainder of the season.
Villa boss Paul Lambert has now signed two players on loan this week in an effort to help his side avoid relegation with Bertrand joining forward Grant Holt, who on Wednesday secured a move from Wigan.
The 24-year-old Bertrand has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Chelsea lineup, but has experience in big games, including the 2012 Champions League final against Bayern Munich.
"Ryan brings a lot of big-game experience, not only in the Premier League but also a Champions League final which Chelsea won, so he'll be really good for us," Lambert told Villa's official website.
"The way he plays the game and as the humble person he is too, he'll fit in here great and it will be good for him also to be playing games. He has real enthusiasm for the game and he's looking forward to playing here."
Bertrand will be eligible to face Liverpool on Saturday as Villa enters the weekend five points clear of the relegation places.
