Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - The Toronto Blue Jays signed infielder Chris Getz to a minor league contract that includes an invitation to spring training, the team announced Thursday.

Getz had spent the previous four years with the Kansas City Royals but was not tendered a contract by the club during the offseason. The 30-year-old batted .220 with one home run, 18 RBI and 16 steals in 78 games in 2013.

Over six major league seasons with the Royals and Chicago White Sox, Getz owns a .251 average with three homers, 118 RBI and 87 stolen bases. All but four of his 378 career starts have come as a second baseman.
