Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics agreed to terms with pitcher Jim Johnson on a one-year contract Thursday, avoiding arbitration.
Johnson was acquired from the Baltimore Orioles in December for infielder Jemile Weeks and minor league catcher David Freitas.
The 30-year-old went 3-8 with 50 saves and a 2.94 ERA in a career-high 74 appearances with the Orioles last season.
In 360 career appearances with Baltimore, Johnson is 18-26 with 122 saves and a 3.11 ERA.
