Giants fire longtime assistant coaches Mike Pope and Jerald Ingram

Longtime New York Giants assistant coaches Mike Pope and Jerald Ingram have been fired after this season's dismal performance by the offense.

Pope and Ingram were both members of coach Tom Coughlin's original staff when he was hired in 2004.

The firings come one day after Coughlin decided to take his offense in another direction by hiring Packers quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo as his new offensive coordinator.

Pope has been the Giants' tight ends coach since 2000. He worked for the team for 23 years spread out over three decades, and been a part of their four Super Bowl championship teams. Ingram has coached the running backs since 2004, and he has worked with Coughlin for more than 20 years, including the Super Bowl winners in 2008 and '12.
