Clarence Seedorf says he will become the new coach at AC Milan. He would succeed Massimiliano Allegri. who was fired the day before.

Seedorf made the announcement Tuesday at the Brazilian club Botafogo, where the midfielder has been playing.

The 37-year-old Dutchman won the Champions League twice with AC Milan. He also won Europe's top club title with Ajax and Real Madrid.

AC Milan is struggling in Serie A and squandered a two-goal lead in a 4-3 loss on Sunday against Sassuolo. The club is in 11th place and six points clear of the relegation zone.
