Bowling Green, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Western Kentucky stayed in-house to find Bobby Petrino's replacement, promoting offensive coordinator Jeff Brohm to head football coach on Friday.

Athletic director Todd Stewart made the announcement a day after Petrino left for a second coaching stint at Louisville.

The 42-year-old Brohm takes over the Hilltoppers after directing an offense that broke 18 single-season school records in his first season as coordinator in 2013.

A Louisville native, Brohm played quarterback for the Cardinals and served as an assistant coach at the school under Petrino.

Brohm has also been on coaching staffs at Florida Atlantic, Illinois and UAB.
