CLEVELAND – Former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said he has not talked to the Browns about their job, but said "it doesn't mean that I don't have any interest in the NFL."
Tressel, who spent 10 years at Ohio State and won a national title before he was fired during a scandal, said on a Columbus radio station that the Browns have not contacted him. Tressel grew up in Berea, where the Browns train and have their headquarters.
A report last week that he would be interviewed by the Browns was quickly shot down.
Tressel, 61, currently works as a vice president at Akron. After he left the Buckeyes, he spent one year as a consultant on Indianapolis' coaching staff.
The Browns are looking for their second coach in a year after Rob Chudzinski was fired last month. They have interviewed at least four known candidates.
