Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - New York Islanders goaltender Evgeni Nabokov left Monday's matchup with the Dallas Stars in the first period due to an undisclosed injury.
Nabokov made a sprawling pad save with just over 8 1/2 minutes left in the opening period, but immediately reached for his right hip/side area in obvious pain.
After meeting with the trainer, Nabokov remained in the game, but on Dallas' next trip into the New York zone, the veteran netminder was unable to slide from post-to-post and headed to the locker room at the next stoppage.
Kevin Poulin took over between the pipes for Nabokov, who gave up a goal on eight shots prior to the injury.
Nabokov missed 10 games earlier this season with a groin injury.
