Auckland, New Zealand (SportsNetwork.com) - Colombian Santiago Giraldo was a first-round winner Monday at the Heineken Open.

Giraldo amassed 10 aces and converted 4-of-10 break points in a 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) win over Spaniard Albert Montanes on Centre Court at ASB Tennis Centre.

American wild card Jack Sock and Argentina's Horacio Zeballos were also Day 1 winners. Sock will face second seed Tommy Haas in the round of 16.

Sock served 11 aces en route to beating Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 6-3, 6-4, while Zeballos advanced by topping Italian Filippo Volandri 6-0, 7-6 (7-1) at this final hardcourt Australian Open tune-up.

This week's top seed is French Open runner-up David Ferrer, who is the reigning three-time and four-time overall Auckland champion. He beat German and 2008 winner Philipp Kohlschreiber in last year's Heineken finale.
