Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Pittsburgh Penguins forward Chris Conner is expected to miss the next 6-to-8 weeks with a hand injury which will require surgery.

Pens head coach Dan Bylsma made the announcement after a Thursday practice session.

Conner, a Michigan Tech product, has picked up four goals and five points in 19 games for Pittsburgh this season.

In other roster news, the Penguins claimed forward Taylor Pyatt off waivers from the New York Rangers.

Pyatt, 32, recorded just one assist in 22 games for the Blueshirts this year. A veteran of 825 NHL contests for the Sabres, Canucks, Coyotes and Rangers, he has totaled 136 goals and 140 assists.
