Kennesaw, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Lewis Preston is taking a temporary leave of absence as coach of the Kennesaw State men's basketball team "due to medical and personal reasons," the school announced Thursday.

Athletic director Vaughn Williams said the school would have no further comment on the situation.

Jimmy Lallathin, in his first season as associate head coach, will serve as interim head coach in Preston's absence.

Preston was an assistant coach at Florida, Notre Dame and Penn State before he was hired to replace Tony Ingle in April 2011.

The Owls are 3-12 in his third season at the helm, including 0-2 in Atlantic Sun play. They have lost seven in a row.

Williams said the school is confident in Lallathin moving forward.
