Ashburn, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Redskins placed rookie tight end Jordan Reed on season-ending injured reserve due to lingering effects from a concussion.
"He did see a [concussion] specialist in Pittsburgh today. They recommended that he stay away, or at least not practice, for the next three weeks," said Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan.
The 23-year-old has not played since he sustained a concussion on Nov. 17 against Philadelphia.
Reed, a third-round draft pick from Florida, leads all rookie tight ends in the NFL with 45 receptions for 499 yards and three touchdowns despite missing four games.
