Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Houston Astros have acquired first baseman/outfielder Jesus Guzman from the San Diego Padres in exchange for infielder Ryan Jackson.

Guzman, 29, hit .226 with nine home runs and 35 RBI in 126 games last season with San Diego.

The Venezuela native brings versatility to Houston, appearing at four different positions in 2013, including 33 games at first base, 25 in left field, three in right field and two at third base.

Guzman, who was essential off the bench for San Diego, hit three home runs and led the Majors with 14 RBI as a pinch-hitter.

Jackson, who spent most of last season with St. Louis' Triple-A affiliate Memphis before being claimed off waivers in November, hit .278 with 19 doubles and 34 RBI in the minors last season.
