Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Braves have come to terms on a one-year deal with right-hander Gavin Floyd.
The pact is reportedly laden with incentives, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which has indicated that Floyd will be paid $4 million and have a chance to earn an additional $4.5 million with potential performance and roster bonuses.
Floyd made just five starts for the Chicago White Sox last season before having his season cut short by an elbow injury that eventually required Tommy John surgery. He also had to have a torn flexor muscle repaired.
The 30-year-old hurler, who hopes to be back in the majors by May, struggled in his limited action last season, as he compiled an 0-4 mark to go along with a 5.18 earned run average in 24 1/3 innings.
Over his 10-year career with the White Sox and Philadelphia Phillies (2004-06), Floyd is 70-70 with a 4.48 ERA in 199 appearances and 187 starts.
