Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Minnesota Twins have signed Jason Kubel to a minor league deal.
Kubel, of course, debuted with the Twins in 2004 and stayed with them through 2011 before signing a free agent deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks prior to the start of the 2012 season.
The 31-year-old hit 30 home runs in his first season with the Diamondbacks, but struggled to a .220 average, five homers, eight doubles and 32 RBI in 89 games last season before being designated for assignment.
Kubel ended his 2013 campaign with the Cleveland Indians, but hit just .167 in 18 at-bats for them. Cleveland then declined its $7.5 million option on him, thus making him a free agent.
For his career Kubel is a .264 hitter with 139 home runs and 551 RBI over 991 games with the Twins, D'Backs and Indians.
