Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Indians signed infielder David Adams to a major league contract on Friday.
After six years in the minors, Adams got his first taste of big league action last season with the New York Yankees. In 43 games over four stints with them he batted just .193 with 13 RBI and 10 runs scored, while playing third base, second base and first.
Adams, though, hit .268 in 59 games for Triple-A Scranton and is a lifetime .291 hitter in the minors.
Also on Friday Cleveland signed free agent right-handers Tyler Cloyd and Travis Banwart and outfielder Matt Carson to minor league contracts with non- roster invitations to major league spring training camp.
