New Mexico Bowl to feature 2 of nation's top quarterbacks, 2 teams amid rebuilding

Two teams led by strong quarterbacks will make their first college football bowl game appearance in years when they face off in the New Mexico Bowl on Dec. 21.

The matchup between Colorado State (7-6) and Washington State (6-6) in Albuquerque will mark the first meeting between the teams.

Under second-year coach Jim McElwain, the Colorado State Rams are the only team in the nation to boast a 3,000-yard passer and a 1,500-yard runner. Running back Kapri Bibbs leads the nation with 28 rushing touchdowns and quarterback Garrett Grayson ranks among the country's top 20 in passing yards (3,327).

The Washington State Cougars are led by second-year coach Mike Leach and his signature spread offense. Junior quarterback Connor Halliday ranks fourth nationally in passing yards (4,189) and is tied for 13th with 28 touchdown passes.
