Malcolm McMillan scored 11 of his team-high 15 points in the first half as Central Connecticut State pulled away from Hartford for a 73-59 win Tuesday night.
A 3-pointer by Mark Nwakamma with 8:17 to play pulled Hartford within 7 points, 55-47, but Faronte Drakeford then scored six points in a 10-1 run by the Blue Devils and the Hawks never got closer than down 14 the rest of the way.
CCSU (2-6) used an 8-0 spurt, sparked by a 3-pointer by Kyle Vinales, to go into the break with a 38-27 advantage.
Drakeford hit 7 of 11 field goals and Vinales handed out six assists as they scored 14 points apiece. Malcolm McMillan finished with 12 points.
Yolonzo Moore scored a game-high 19 points for Hartford, which shot just 34.8 percent (16 of 26) from the field and 27.3 percent (6 of 22) from 3-point range.
