Arsenal held by Everton

London, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Arsenal's lead atop the Premier League table grew to five points despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Everton at the Emirates on Sunday.

The Gunners had an opportunity to increase their lead over Liverpool and Chelsea to seven points with a win over the Toffees, and that result looked likely when Mesut Ozil turned in Theo Walcott's header back across goal 10 minutes from time.

But Everton answered four minutes later thanks to a blistering strike from Gerard Deulofeu, netting his second league goal of the season.

Arsenal, on 35 points, has dropped points just four times so far this season while Everton, on 28 points, has suffered only one defeat in Premier League play thus far, the fewest in the English top flight.

Fulham 2, Aston Villa 0

London, England - Fulham got its first win under new manager Rene Meulensteen on Sunday as the Cottagers earned a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa at Craven Cottage.

Steve Sidwell opened the scoring in the 21st minute with his third goal of the campaign while Dimitar Berbatov doubled the club's advantage with a penalty kick nine minutes later.

Fulham improves to 13 points to inch closer to safety while Villa stays put on 19 points.
