Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Belk Bowl announced Friday that the University of Cincinnati will participate in the Charlotte-based bowl game for a second consecutive season.

The Bearcats, who defeated Duke by a 48-34 score in last year's edition, concluded their 2013 regular season with a 9-3 record following Thursday's 31-24 overtime loss to Louisville. Following the win, the Cardinals accepted an invitation to the Russell Athletic Bowl, which owns the second choice of teams from the American Athletic Conference.

"We are so pleased to be going to Charlotte to play in the 2013 Belk Bowl," said Cincinnati head coach Tommy Tuberville. "The opportunity to play another game is huge for our team, our fans and for recruiting. It's exciting and a tribute to our great fans that the Belk Bowl has selected UC two years in a row and I look forward to seeing Bearcats Nation in Charlotte on December 28."

The Bearcats will take on an opponent representing the Atlantic Coast Conference in the Belk Bowl, which will be held on Dec. 28 at Bank of America Stadium.

"We are delighted to have the University of Cincinnati returning to the 2013 Belk Bowl," said Belk Bowl executive director Will Webb. "The Bearcats are a very good team that should provide a great matchup in Charlotte for its opponent. The university and its fans had a great showing last year and we look forward to hosting them again for the 2013 Belk Bowl."
