James Develin's tenacity is paying off for the New England Patriots.
The 255-pound fullback was a long shot to reach the NFL after he played defensive end at Brown, the Ivy League school where he received an engineering degree. But he scored his first pro touchdown on a 1-yard run after being hit several times in last Sunday's 34-31 win over the Houston Texans.
Develin says it's a play he'll never forget.
He plays mostly on special teams but has been a solid blocker and played in all 12 games this season. He's only carried the ball twice in his career but one run came on his touchdown 2:19 into the third quarter that cut the Patriots deficit to 17-14 at Houston.
