Marseille, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Marseille midfielder Mathieu Valbuena sustained a dislocated shoulder in his team's 1-0 defeat to Lille on Tuesday and he is expected to miss up to six weeks.
Valbuena was forced to leave the field after just 17 minutes with the injury on Tuesday, and a statement from Marseille confirmed that the France international is likely to miss at least the next month.
But Marseille boss Elie Baup is hopeful that he can return sooner.
"As regards Mathieu Valbuena, if the recovery is good, he will be sidelined for a few weeks - you should speak to the doctor - three or four weeks maybe," Baup said Tuesday.
In 16 Ligue 1 matches for Marseille this season, Valbuena has totaled one goal and three assists.
