Javon McCrea had nine points, eight rebounds and three blocks to lead Buffalo over Delaware State 65-55 on Saturday.
With his third block he reached 198 for his career — passing Mitchell Watt for second in school history. It was McCrea's first game scoring under double digits since a Dec. 12, 2012 match against Washington State.
Buffalo (3-2) led 61-55 with 1:13 to play and held the Hornets to only one more shot attempt to seal the win. Shannon Evans had 13 points and four steals, Will Regan had 12 points and eight rebounds and Jarod Oldham had 12 points and five assists.
Delaware State (1-5) trailed only 34-33 with 15:42 to go, but went scoreless for the next 5 minutes. Kendall Gray was 7 of 11 from the field and DeAndre Haywood was 4 of 7. The rest of the Hornets were only 10 of 36 from the floor.
