Coach Mike Shanahan: 'Everybody is playing for their jobs' now that Redskins are 3-8

ASHBURN, Va. – Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan says "everybody is playing for their jobs" on his 3-8 team, including players and coaches.

The Redskins sit in last place in the NFC East following a 27-6 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Washington's fourth double-digit defeat this season.

The focus now shifts to 2014, when Shanahan hopes to have an entire offseason to develop Robert Griffin III's passing skills. Griffin missed the offseason work this year because he was recovering from major knee surgery.

Shanahan also wants to improve the team's depth. The Redskins have been hindered in free agency the last two years because of a salary cap penalty.

There's also no guarantee that Shanahan will return for the final year of his five-year contract.

Washington hosts the New York Giants on Sunday night.
