Liverpool, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Liverpool defender Jose Enrique will miss 10 weeks of action after undergoing successful knee surgery on Monday.
Enrique, 27, made his last start for the Reds on Oct. 5 in a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield and came on as a second-half substitute in a 4-0 win over Fulham on Nov. 9, but has not seen action since then.
"Enrique is expected to return to full training at Melwood in around 10 weeks' time," the club said in a statement.
The left back, a six million pound signing from Newcastle United in August 2011, has started just six Premier League matches this season.
Liverpool currently sits in second place in the Premiership on 24 points and is coming off a wild 3-3 draw with Everton on Saturday in the 221st edition of the Merseyside derby.
The Reds will attempt to get back to winning ways on Dec. 1 against Hull City.
