Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Ondrej Pavelec made 25 saves to help the Winnipeg Jets take a 3-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Monday.

Evander Kane, Devin Setoguchi and Mark Scheifele scored for the Jets, who snapped a four-game skid. Dustin Byfuglien had two assists in the win.

"We need every win we can get," said Pavelec. "We're going to be on the road a lot for the next couple weeks so this was a good start."

Patrik Elias scored the only goal for the Devils, who have dropped their past two. Martin Brodeur gave up two goals on 21 shots in the loss.

"We just didn't make many good passes or challenge to much one-and-one," said Elias. "We have to do those things if we want to create some opportunities."

The Devils cut their deficit to 2-1 at 10:44 of the third period as Andy Greene blasted a shot on net from the left point that was re-directed in by Elias in front.

New Jersey pulled Brodeur in the final minute, but Setoguchi put the puck in the empty net to seal the win.

Winnipeg scored the first goal of the game at 16:01 of the first period as Michael Frolik brought the puck in down the left side and fired it over to the slot where Scheifele wristed it home for his second of the year.

It was a 2-0 game 7:16 into the second period as a left circle faceoff draw was banked off the left boards and Kane one-touched it into the net for his seventh of the season.

Pavelec had 17 saves through the first two period to keep the Devils off the board.
