Marseille, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Marseille will be without winger Andre Ayew for the next two months after the Ghana international underwent knee surgery on Monday.
Ayew sustained the problem in Ghana's World Cup qualifying playoff with Egypt last week after being forced off the field in the 58th minute of the contest.
The 23-year-old underwent tests upon his return to France, and the club determined that surgery was necessary.
"Andre Ayew has been operated on successfully," a statement on the club's official website read on Monday. "Andre's unavailability is estimated at about two months."
Ayew has tallied four goals in 14 games this season for Marseille, which sits in fourth place in Ligue 1.
